Photoneumatic PPx Therapy

Photoneumatic PPx Therapy is an FDA cleared therapy and is the first no pain cosmetic procedure for the treatment of sun damaged and aging skin, including brown spots, redness and broken capillaries, as well as unsightly veins.

Benefits

There are several key differences between PPx and other laser and light based skin rejuvenation treatments.

Photoneumatic PPx Therapy is an FDA cleared therapy and is the first no pain cosmetic procedure for the treatment of sun damaged and aging skin, including brown spots, redness and broken capillaries, as well as unsightly veins.

  • PPx Therapy offers superior results with the most advanced treatment technology.
  • Treatments are gentle and less painful than other IPL systems.
  • Treatments are faster. Facial rejuvenation may take between 15 and 20 minutes, while treating a larger area such as both your arms for sun damage may take up to 30 minutes.
  • PPx does not require a pre-treatment with anesthetics or numbing creams.
  • Treatments are more hygienic with no risk of infection.

What causes these unwanted pigmented lesions?

Melanin is what gives our skin its color. The amount of melanin in your skin determines if you have a light or dark complexion. Pigmented lesions are dark in color simply because the melanin is abnormally concentrated in one area of the skin. High concentrations of melanin can be due to various factors. Some types are present at birth, but most occur with age, or as a result of overexposure to the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays.

What does the treatment feel like?

PPx skin rejuvenation is very comfortable. You will feel a gentle and warm sensation as your skin is drawn into the treatment tip. A very gentle light energy will be applied to the treatment area, immediately after which you will feel your skin being gently released back into normal position. Patients describe the sensation as being similar to that of a warm massage.

What does the treatment do?

The visible light delivered by the PPx procedure is selectively absorbed by the brown or red pigmented spots on your skin. It is the heating of the pigmented cells that causes the spots to disappear.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments depends on the condition being treated. For example, facial skin rejuvenation may require 5 treatments at 3 week intervals for more than 70% clearance. Your certified laser specialist will recommend the number of treatments needed to reach your desired results.

How safe are these treatments?

The PPx System is extremely safe. It is FDA cleared for treating pigmented lesions. This procedure is specifically designed to target the pigmented spots not the surrounding skin.

Will the spots reappear over time?

No. However, new spot may reappear. These can be removed in the same way. Making a commitment to wear sunscreen and to stay out of tanning beds will prolong the underlying sun damage from rising to the surface.

What happens after the procedure?

Immediately following the procedure, the pigmented lesions will start to darken. They may turn slightly red. This will diminish within 12 hours. A few days following you treatment, the spots will look like coffee grounds on your skin. Over the next 1-3 weeks the darkened spots will begin to fade and flake off.
