Thrive Med Spa provides Laser Genesis™ Rosacea & Acne Scarring Repair procedures throughout the Chicagoland area from the downtown Loop to Gold Coast and River North areas.

Even after acne has cleared the remaining enlarged pores can make skin appear rough and uneven and can leave you prone to future breakouts. An area on your face equivalent to the size of a quarter has over 600 pores. Oftentimes enlarged pores are hard to disguise, even with thick makeup and leave the skin open to all types of bacteria and dirt. Laser genesis is a great treatment for reducing the size of the pores on your face and also reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Laser Genesis, Thrive’s 3D approach to rejuvenating your skin

Laser Genesis is part of your 3D approach to treating acne scarring, wrinkles, rosacea, uneven texture and sun damage. Laser Genesis penetrates deep into the cellular layer of the skin. Microdermabrasion and chemical peels help to refine the surface while the laser corrects the problem at the cellular level. It can also be combined with a photofacial to erase sun damage, age spots and melasma (pregnancy mask).

What are Laser Genesis Skin Treatments

Laser Genesis skin rejuvenation treatments are safe and effective ways of treating scarring, diffuse redness, uneven texture and large pores. Laser is a non-ablative, non-invasive and comfortable form of skin rejuvenation. By gently heating the upper dermis and targeting discolor in the skin, the appearance of acne scars and redness is reduced.

Laser genesis is form of non-invasive laser therapy that uses laser technology to gently heat the different levels of the dermis. The temporary thermal treatment increase the skin’s collagen production, break down damaged capillaries and shrinks pores on the skin’s surface. Laser genesis can be performed on several areas of the body, including the face, chest and neck. Many patients have actually described laser genesis as a pleasant treatment. The laser produces a warm, tingling sensation on the patient’s skin, which usually lasts for 30 minutes.

How does it work?

Laser genesis is effective for both men and women and is proven to increase an individual’s collagen production, which along with the heat generated by the treatment helps to shrink facial pores across the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead. Results are more subtle at first, with the benefits from treatment increasing over time as the regenerated collagen helps beautiful, smooth skin to grow. Benefits continue to increase in intensity and the number of treatments received increases, with the average patient receiving four treatments for optimal results. The number of treatments needed is determined on a case-by-case basis, depending upon the skin’s growth cycle and also the size and spread of enlarged pores. No anesthetic is required during the treatment and very few side effects occur. Potential side effects include mild skin irritation and peeling around the treatment site. Laser genesis usually takes less than an hour to perform, and irritation or side effects after the treatment are extremely minimal. Most patients are immediately able to return to their daily activities.

What does the treatment feel like?

Laser Genesis treatments are completely non-invasive. Patients have described it as relaxing and therapeutic. You will feel a gentle warming as the laser is moved across the skin about 1⁄2” above the surface. You can immediately return to normal activities with absolutely no downtime or redness.

Are there any side effects?

There are no side effects to this treatment except for slight redness in sensitive skin patients.

When will I see results?

You will slowly start to see results 3-9 weeks after your first treatment because we are repairing cells deep in the middle layer of the skin. Once these cells start to come to the surface, you will see improvements in texture, redness, scarring and fine lines. This is a cumulative treatment which means that your specific condition will continue to improve more and more with each treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

On average, patients require 4-6 treatments to see maximum results. Every patient’s needs vary. Our certified laser specialist will recommend a treatment plan specifically for you and your needs.

What is diffuse redness?

Diffuse redness is a general appearance of overall redness or rosy cheeks. It is caused by small dilated capillaries resulting in an overall redness. If you look close you will see a webbing of capillaries. You will most commonly find diffuse redness on the cheeks, nose, and chin. It can be hereditary and is often associated with rosacea.

What is a port wine stain?

A port wine stain is the most common form of the vascular “birthmark”. It is a red, blue, or purplish discoloration of the skin frequently seen on the face or neck, but also common on the trunk, arms, and legs. The lesion will never completely go away. However, Laser Genesis can fade the color and make it less noticeable.

Benefits

Laser genesis can also be used to treat skin discoloration from broken capillaries. The heat produced and stored in your dermis during treatment breaks down damaged capillaries and dissipates trapped blood and redness beneath the skin’s surface. Unlike other laser treatments, laser genesis is described as non-ablative, meaning it does not affect the surface of the skin but instead penetrates deep into the dermis’ deepest layers. This minimizes any damage done by the extreme thermal temperatures and prevents scaring and skin damage. After treatment not only are pores smaller, but the skin feels and appears tighter overall. Fine lines may also appear less noticeable and skin looks more firm. The benefits of laser genesis can be greatly enhanced by proper post-care after the treatment. Consuming plenty of water in the days following the treatment, as well protecting the skin from the sun by covering up with protective clothing layers or sunscreen can heighten visible benefits from the procedure.
